Welcome to the
Bachelor of Liberal Studies (BLS) program.

UNI CampusThe BLS is a cooperative effort of the Board of Regents, State of Iowa Universities to deliver baccalaureate-level degrees to meet the needs of Iowans who want to earn a college degree, but whose circumstances present obstacles to completing a traditional on-campus degree program. The BLS degree may be earned from Iowa State University, the University of Iowa, or the University of Northern Iowa.
ISU Campus

UI campusThe BLS degree has no specific major. Instead, students concentrate course work in three of the five Distribution Areas. Within each of the three selected areas, students are required to complete 12 semester hours of course work; at least six semester hours must be upper-level course work.

You may take courses at any of the three universities but at least 32 semester hours must be taken from the university that will grant the degree. Each university has specific requirements and minimum GPAs so, for more information, please contact the institution from which you wish to receive a degree.
