Current Students (degree or non-degree)

#Step 2

Register Directly in ISIS

Current students who registered in the previous semester and newly admitted students for the current semester should register directly in ISIS for courses offered through The Center for Credit Programs.

Hawk ID and Password

You should already know your Hawk ID and Password. They are needed to log in to ISIS to register for coursework. If you have forgotten your password or if it has expired, visit the HawkID Guide for assistance or call ITS at 319-384-HELP.

Registration Date and Time

Current students will have registration dates and times assigned prior to early registration. This information is available on the Registration screen in ISIS.  You may not register until on or after your registration date and time.

If you are a current student who has had a break in your registration for one or more semesters (but have been absent less than 12 months) you might not have been assigned a registration date and time. If ISIS does not allow you to register for this reason (Not Permitted to Register), contact the Registration Center for a registration date and time.

Other reasons for blocked registration are overdue U-Bill, health immunization requirements or transcript requirements. ISIS alerts you to such blocks and directs you to the appropriate office to resolve them.

EMAIL

You need an active UI e-mail account in order to receive important University and course-related information. You are responsible for information sent to your account. Activate your UI e-mail account in the My UIowa menu in ISIS immediately. If you prefer, you may route your UI email to an alternate address such as a Yahoo! or Hotmail account.

READY TO REGISTER?

Once you have your Hawk ID and password and are eligible to register, you may add courses to your schedule using the Rapid Registration and Power Registration functions in the ISIS Registration menu.

Non-degree students may only register in courses offered through the Center for Credit Programs. To identify these courses, go to the Courses menu in ISIS or Power Registration, select the check-boxes on the right for Saturday & Evening or Distance Education. To further narrow your search to only those courses open to you, add criteria such as department or keywords.

You must abide by specific course requirements as listed in the course description such as pre-requisites or special permission. You may only register if space is available. You may add and drop courses in ISIS until midnight on the day before the semester begins (for semester-length courses) or up to the day before the course start date (for off-cycle courses). If the course does not have a start date listed, it is a semester-length course. Off-cycle courses list a start and end date.
