About Saturday & Evening Classes

Saturday & Evening Classes are on-campus University of Iowa credit courses and workshops offered at times that are especially convenient for part-time and nontraditional students and for those who commute. Most classes meet just once or twice a week, either on a weekday evening or on Saturday morning.

Saturday & Evening Classes are offered in the fall and spring semesters and in the three-week, six-week, and eight-week summer sessions. Undergraduate and graduate-level course work is available from a variety of colleges and academic departments. Summer workshops for teachers and administrators address issues in gifted education and other topics. On-campus workshops for teachers and others are frequently available during the fall and spring semesters as well.

You may register for Saturday & Evening classes and workshops without being admitted to The University of Iowa, although S&E courses and workshops are open to UI degree-seeking students. Registration can be done by telephone, in person, or online using ISIS, the Web-based student registration system.

Tuition for Saturday & Evening classes is the same as for other on-campus courses. Undergraduate non degree (extension) students should consult Table 1 in the Tuition and Mandatory Fee Schedules for information on charges; graduate nondegree (extension) students should refer to Table 9. Workshop tuition is the same for Iowa residents and nonresidents.

Each semester, hundreds of courses and workshops are offered through Saturday & Evening Classes. Although the scheduling may be different, the courses cover the same material and S&E students receive the same excellent instruction as do students who attend during the daytime. Whether you’re working toward a degree, enhancing your career development, or taking a course just for fun, you’re bound to find something to fit your schedule.
