Department of History Writing Center

The Department of History Writing Center is a resource for students who need assistance in writing assignments for their history classes. Besides providing one-on-one help with assignments, the Writing Center’s Web site can: link you to a dictionary, thesaurus, encyclopedia, and helpful maps; get you started with ideas, give you advice on organizing an argument, and offer grammar help; help you with problems you may have with citations in your papers.

Instructional Technology Centers

Math Lab

The Mathematics Tutorial Laboratory is a resource offered to students by the UI Department of Mathematics. Many, but not all, DE courses in mathematics can receive support from the Math Lab tutors.

Performs most recordkeeping functions at the UI, including verification of registration, graduation analysis, and distribution of official transcripts.

The Rhetoric Centers

Registered students are entitled to services provided by the two Rhetoric Centers at The University of Iowa: The Writing Center and The Speaking Center. The e-mail tutoring service provided by The Writing Center may be of special interest to non-local students.

While students do not receive credit for Rhetoric Center work, the aim of the centers is to help students become better readers, writers, or speakers by providing individualized instruction. Students may enroll in programs offered by the centers, or receive help with individual assignments they are working on in their courses.
