Student Identification Cards
Students taking UI courses, whether on campus or via distance education, are eligible to receive a UI student identification (ID) card. This is your permanent and official identification card at The University of Iowa. It bears a magnetic stripe, your name, photo, and signature. The card is necessary for access to many University student services and allows you to charge textbooks and other items to your student account if you sign a charge policy form.
Photo IDs are issued at the University ID Card Services office. You must present a picture ID bearing your signature such as a driver's license or passport.
Before going to the ID Card Services office, contact the CCP to be sure your registration request and other necessary forms have been processed. Cards will not be issued until paperwork has cleared.
If you are unable to come to campus for a photo ID, you may request a no-photo ID by mail. Simply mail the no-photo ID card request form(pdf). The no-photo ID card has limited use.
University ID Card Services provides more information about obtaining a card, policies, office location, and hours.
