The University of Iowa has created partnership with four community colleges around the state, bringing UI coursework to community campuses. Anne Zalenski, associate Dean of Distance Education, says the UI will provide support and instructors for the blended courses, both online and discussion sections. Chet Rzonca, Dean of Continuing Education, says since many students who attend community college are place-bound, this will provide an opportunity to complete a four year degree, and that this could be a cost-effective program. Kirkwood Community College in Cedar Rapids, Western Iowa Tech Community College in Sioux City, Des Moines area community college, and the Eastern Iowa Community College District have reached partnership agreements. Students who have completed an associate's degree can take UI classes for either a Bachelor of Applied Studies or Bachelor of Liberal Studies.
