Continuing Education Unit is a measurement used throughout the United States by educational institutions to record participation in non-academic credit education programs. One CEU is awarded for each 10 hours of participation in an organized continuing education experience.

The Center for Conferences is an approved provider of General CEU's and is responsible for maintaining the CEU database, which stores all credits awarded for each individual.

Many licensing boards will accept general CEU awards towards professional licensure and professional development. You should confirm with your specific governing board if General CEUs can be applied toward your discipline.

If you are interested in applying for General CEUs for an upcoming conference or program, please complete the CEU application (available on line) and submit directly to The Center for Conferences, Attn: CEU Department, 250 CEF, Iowa City, IA 52242.

There is a $100.00 application processing fee that must be paid in order for the application to be complete. For further information regarding Continuing Education Units, please contact us at 319-335-4141 or E-mail us at conferences@uiowa.edu.

There is a $10 per certificate CEU processing fee for each course completed.

General CEU’s are also available for courses taken through the ContinueToLearn With SkillSoft collection of online professional development courses. More than 300 courses are offered through The University of Iowa Division of Continuing Education in cooperation with UI Learning & Development. Select SkillSoft CEU’s to
