What Is The Best Way To Get To Iowa City?
By Air. Nearly 100 commercial flights serve CEDAR RAPIDS including AirTran, American Eagle, Delta, Northwest, United and US Air Express; there is no commercial airport in Iowa City.
Airport Shuttle. A University owned charter coach transports students exclusively from the Cedar Rapids airport to campus and back again (25 miles one-way). The Institute does not provide transportation from any other airport. This shuttle is free to students arriving at the Cedar Rapids Airport and departing from the Cedar Rapids Airport.
Bus. Iowa City is served by the Greyhound Bus Company. The bus depot is four blocks from the residence hall, and there is no charge for transportation to registration.
By Car. Iowa City is 250 miles west of Chicago and 110 miles east of Des Moines on Interstate 80. Iowa City is midway between St. Paul and St. Louis.
If a student drives a car to Institute, all keys to it must be surrendered upon arrival, and no plans should be made to use the vehicle until departure. Additionally, there will be a $75 parking permit fee.
While Amtrak serves Mt. Pleasant, Iowa, the Institute cannot offer transportation. A taxi is available for about $120 one-way (Mt. Pleasant is 60 miles south of Iowa City). |
