Your privacy is important to us. This statement discloses the information practices of the University of Iowa National Summer Institute in Forensics website, including what information is recorded and how that information is used.

Personal Information We define "personal information" as any information that reveals the identity of the user. Examples include, name and email address. The National Summer Institute in Forensics website does not record or attempt to record personal information about a user without their knowledge.

Cookies "Cookies" are files sent to your computer's browser by websites and then saved on your computer. The purpose of a cookie is usually to record some information about you for future reference. Each time you revisit the website that sent the cookie, the website may request the file on your computer and display or record information specific to you. The NSIF website uses cookies on our "Application" and "My Account" areas for the purpose of making your visit easier. We do not use cookies to track your movement through the website. Children Under 13 We realize that a small amount of students applying to the Institute are under the age of 13. For purposes of verification we are mandating that these students mail in their applications with parental signatures. We will not collect information from these children online.

Application The application area records personal information which is used to determine student acceptance, as well as administrative functions after admission. Information collected from this area is maintained by the University of Iowa. The application area will not accept information from a student that identifies themselves as under the age of thirteen. This area is secured through encryption technology to ensure your privacy.

My Account The "My Account" area is used to record any information that was not entered during the regular application process. This area is also used for any online credit card transactions you would like to process. This area is also secured through encryption technology to ensure your privacy.

What is Done With My Information? We keep your information in confidence. Any health information requested is only used in case of emergency, for the sole purpose of providing medical attention. Contact information is kept in the University of Iowa's Prospective Student Database. No information about a student is disclosed to any third parties. University of Iowa personnel are only able to access information from the Student Database when they can demonstrate an "Educational Right to Know." With the exception of health information, your personal information is not disclosed to entities outside of the University of Iowa.

Security Logs The NSIF takes security very seriously. Our dedication to maintaining security includes logging activity on our website. These logs are only used for monitoring malicious activity. Informatics will neither attempt to use the logs to identify you nor disclose these logs to a third party, unless we determine your activity on the website was malicious.
