Programs - Lincoln-Douglas Debate - Senior Philosophers

THE 3rd WEEK OPTION

This is an extension week that offers students the opportunity to continue to build on the lectures, theory, and skills offered in the first two weeks of the Institute.  This 3rd week offers students an additional 14 critiqued practice debates, and will include an additional set of elective lectures designed to prepare students for the other topics they could debate throughtout the year.

Individual attention may include case writing on alternative topics, rebuttal redos, individual strategy sessions, etc. Divisional meetings may include lectures on block writing and construction of backfiles, theoretical quandaries influencing LD debate, and philosophy lectures building on the previous two weeks.  If you want additional exposure to theories of argument and questions of ethics, plus 14 more practice debates, than this option is for you!

This option is limited to 40 students. 10 students are required to sign up for it before its offering is finalized.  An announcement will be made on or about May 5th regarding this option.  We do anticipate a large number of applicants based on inquiries.

If you plan to enroll in the 3rd week, please indicate on your enrollment form that you are interested in the 3rd week option.
