Dear Iowa Summer Writing Festival Participants, Iowa City Writers, and Pen-Clutching Rabble Rousers;
On the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the Iowa Summer Writing Festival, I’d like to extend a personal invitation to any readers, writers, community members, or lovers of literature to join us in the fun this summer. Below you will find a detailed schedule of the 2011 Eleventh Hour Series presentations. The Eleventh Hour is free and open to the public as well as Festival participants.
The Eleventh Hour Lecture Series (formerly called “Elevenses”) is composed of hour-long presentations beginning at 11:00 a.m. each weekday during the final three weeks of June, and the final three weeks of July. The series features issues of special interest to writers. These might include aspects of craft, process, the writing life, or publishing. We feature a different presenter each day, and specific descriptions can be found below. Fridays in The Eleventh Hour Series are reserved for a faculty reading.
This is my 6th year curating The Eleventh Hour Lecture Series and I am particularly excited for this season’s selection of engaging, thoughtful, attentive, illuminating, goofy, and provoking talks. I encourage you to swing by for a day or for the whole summer—we can’t wait to see you!
Happy summer!!—
Caryl Pagel
