Dan Holub |
Dan is the Director of the Labor Center. Dan Holub began working as a full-time Labor Educator for the Labor Center in September 1999. He had been an ad hoc instructor at the Labor Center since 1992, while also serving as (Assistant) Business Manager, Financial Secretary and General Counsel for the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, Local 204. He is currently a member of the United Association for Labor Education; AFL-CIO Lawyers Coordinating Committee; National Lawyers Guild; Iowa Chapter American Federation of Teachers, Local 716 (Treasurer); and is an attorney with the Volunteer Lawyers Project. Holub teaches a variety of non-credit programs including: stewards' education, grievance handling and arbitration, public and private sector collective bargaining, critique of interest-based bargaining, pension and health insurance bargaining, cash balance pensions, workers' compensation, social security issues and policy, common sense economics, internal and external union organizing, corporate research, basic anti-discrimination law in the workplace, developing effective union committee structures, union political action, strategic planning for local unions, financial officer responsibilities and other union-related topics as needed. Holub is available to answer general questions from Iowa workers related to any of these topics. Education
