Volunteer for Water Quality!
Summer is here, and so is the lake monitoring season! If you would like to learn about lake ecology or water quality, or you just enjoy being on the water, the Cooperative Lakes Area Monitoring Project (CLAMP) is looking for you!
New! Lakeside Announces Public Art and Science Project
You are invited to an open house and brainstorming session to learn about an exciting and innovative public science and art project at Lakeside Lab. The event will be held Friday, May 25 from 4:00 to 6:00 pm at the Waitt Lab. For more information, click here.
People Project 2012
The 5th annual People Project took place on Saturday, January 28, 2012. A record crowd of 285 participants formed a giant frog at the Bedell Family YMCA. The event was moved off the lake this year because mild weather made the ice potentially unsafe.

Lakeside to Offer Science Camp for High School Students
Lakeside Lab will offer a new science camp this summer from June 18-22. Participants will compare freshwater environments using an important group of microscopic life called diatoms. For more information, click here.
Water Quality Summit Held at Lakeside
In partnership with the State Hygienic Lab, Lakeside hosted a water quality summit on September 16. During the morning, four speakers shared their experiences in improving water quality in urban and rural areas of Iowa. Two afternoon discussions focused on the topics "What Works and Why" and "Where do We Go from Here?" A video of the event will be posted on the Hygienic Lab's web site, and a link to that will be posted here.
