Friends of Lakeside Lab, Inc.

About the Friends
Friends of Lakeside Lab, Inc. is a tax-exempt, Iowa nonprofit corporation that was organized in 1994. The Friends' mission is to promote Lakeside as a community resource for water quality monitoring, research and environmental education. The members of the Board of Directors come predominantly from the Iowa Great Lakes community.
The Friends' first major project was to raise funds to construct the Waitt Laboratory, a year-round facility that houses a water analysis lab and environmental classrooms. The building was dedicated on July 10, 1998.
The Friends recently completed a $2 million endowment campaign. The income from this endowment will be used to sustain and expand water quality and environmental education programs at Lakeside Lab. Donors of $1,000 and more become members of the Macbride Society and are recognized at an annual dinner. If you would like to participate, please contact the Lab's executive director.
Other Friends projects include merit scholarships for students in Lakeside's summer courses and support for special projects at Lakeside, including the 2009 centennial celebraion.
