Course Requirements

Homepage:
Every student in the course will be required to complete a homepage on the course Web site. Creating a homepage is simple and instructions are included in the Content area of the Web site. This will help create our online community.

You will be required to tell: 1) who you are, 2) are you a full time or part time student, 3) already an RN, 4) why you're taking the course 5) what's your favorite thing to do if you had spare time (yea I know BIG joke), 6) what's the best part of being a nurse and the worst, 7) what you'd do if you won the $80 million dollar jackpot in the lottery!

Discussion:
Every student in the course will be required to participate in the online discussions. These discussions can be very fascinating particularly because people have time to think about what they want to say and can really “talk” to each other. Previous students and I agree this is absolutely one of the best parts of the course. Discussions will be open for an average of 2-3 weeks and then they will be closed.

You will participate in every discussion I post – you will not be graded on what you say but you will participate . By doing discussions this way it has provided for a very rich part of the course – people say what they think, aren’t afraid to ask a question no matter how simplistic they think it may be and the discussions have turned out wonderful.

Tests:
There will be 3 tests that are primarily short answer and open notes. Tests will be available for download approximately 2 weeks before they are due. You are on your honor to do the exams on your own.

Exam 1
- will cover content included in Pain Theory, Law, The World, JCAHO, Acute, Chronic, and Cancer Pain, and the Assessment Unit.

Exam 2
- will cover Pharmacologic Pain Relief

Exam 3
- will include NonPharm and any other content covered in the course
